Albuquerque Man Gets Long Prison Term in Drug, Gun Cases

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearms charges.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Victor Hurtado received a 141-month prison term Thursday and will be on supervised release for five years after that.

Hurtado was accused of robbing an Albuquerque pharmacy on Jan. 6.

Authorities say he jumped over the counter while brandishing a firearm, ordered the pharmacist to open the safe where controlled substances were kept and stole bottles of Oxycodone and other drugs from the inventory.

Hurtado also pleaded guilty in July to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

He was arrested March 5 after the New Mexico State Police found 54 grams of heroin and 133 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle Hurtado was driving.
