Albuquerque Man Gets Prison Term for Robbing 4 Businesses

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison after being convicted of robbing four commercial businesses.

Federal prosecutors say 56-year-old David Savoy Thomas will be on supervised release for three years following his term of incarceration.

Thomas was arrested in December 2013 after being indicted in the case.

Evidence at his March 2015 trial showed that Thomas robbed one Bernalillo County business in May 2010 and three businesses in 2013.

Jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on a charge of brandishing a firearm during a violent crime.

Albuquerque police say Thomas' fingerprints were identified as being on the glass door of a restaurant that was robbed in May 2010.

Clerks also identified Thomas as the man who attempted to rob two stores in 2013.
