Albuquerque police looking for $32K in stolen copper wire

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say they're searching for three suspects who allegedly stole more than $32,000 in copper wire off a movie set in Albuquerque.

Albuquerque police say one of the suspects already was in jail and has been re-booked on new charges.

They say 20th Century Fox had completed a movie shoot Nov. 24 at Winrock Mall when the copper wire was stolen from the set overnight.

On Nov. 28, a car seeking service at a truck stop was found with a large amount of copper inside.

But the suspects fled before officers could arrest them, although some of the copper fell out of the vehicle and was recovered.

Police say more than 800 pounds of the stolen copper wire already has been sold to recyclers by two of the suspects.
