California Man Pleads Guilty In Bank Fraud Scheme

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A California man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud in multiple states including New Mexico.

Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Kevin Cohn of Rialto entered his plea Tuesday.

Two co-defendants from California previously pleaded guilty in the case.

Cohn was added as a defendant in March in a 12-count superseding indictment.

He and the two other men were accused of scheming to defraud a bank in January by using counterfeit debit cards to purchase items from U.S. post offices in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

Prosecutors say the three men will have to pay more than $30,000 in restitution to the U.S. Postal Service.

Cohn faces up to 30 years in prison when he's sentenced at a later date. He's been in federal custody since his September arrest.
