Charges dismissed against man accused of killing daughter

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Murder and evidence-tampering charges against a Santa Fe County man accused of killing his adult daughter in 2015 have been dismissed. The county Sheriff's Office and the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office say they jointly decided that the case against 67-year-old William Kelley of Agua Fria in the death of 30-year-old Julieanne Kelley "cannot in good faith move forward to trial." The offices' statement Friday doesn't explain the decision to drop charges against the father, but says the case remains under investigation and that charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning the charges could be refiled. Defense attorney Carlos Scarborough says his client is tremendously relieved to have the charges dropped after being accused of killing his own daughter. Her body was found outside the home she shared with her father.
