NFL To Refund Cost Of Hall Of Fame Game Tickets

STEVE INSKEEP, Host:

Fans were hoping to see some action on the field this past weekend at the Hall of Fame Game.

RENEE MONTAGNE, Host:

That's the traditional first, pre-season NFL game. It's played in Canton, Ohio, the same weekend athletes and coaches are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

POST: This year's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears was scheduled for yesterday.

INSKEEP: Team owners and players did reach an agreement, of course, just not in time to get this game going. Around 14,000 tickets had already been sold, and the NFL says it is providing a full refund.

INSKEEP: That's the business news on MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Steve Inskeep.

MONTAGNE: And I'm Renee Montagne. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.

In this report we mistakenly referred to the St. Louis Cardinals. The NFL Cardinals are an Arizona team. The two teams that were scheduled to play in this year's Hall of Fame Game were the St. Louis Rams and the Chicago Bears.
