Libertarian Johnson Rallies Home-State Voters

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson is promising a balanced budget, a ban on immigration quotas and other fiscally conservative but socially inclusive measures. The former New Mexico governor spoke at a rally with supporters in his home state Saturday afternoon at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Johnson hit back at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's previous calls to build a wall along the Mexico border. He also pushed for legalizing marijuana and eliminating some taxes. Johnson was joined by running mate Bill Weld, the former Massachusetts governor. A former two-time Republican governor, Johnson is running on a platform of fiscal conservatism and limited government. The Libertarian ticket is polling below the 15 percent threshold need for Johnson to participate in the televised fall presidential debates alongside Democrat Hillary Clinton and Trump.
