Man Accused Of Running Roswell Meth Ring Pleads Guilty

ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) — A man accused of being the ringleader of a drug trafficking organization in Roswell has pleaded guilty. The Roswell Daily Record reports that Joseph Ray Mendiola on Tuesday pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Mendiola was one of 41 people charged in connection to a months-long investigation into drug trafficking in Roswell and the surrounding area. Mendiola is alleged to have been the leader of the trafficking operation. Under the terms of his plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend between 12 and 15 years in prison.
