Man Faces More Prison Time In Albuquerque Policeman Shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A homeless man already serving a 20-year sentence in state prison for shooting an Albuquerque police officer four times during a 2015 traffic stop has pleaded guilty to violating federal firearm laws. Prosecutors say 38-year-old Christopher Cook pleaded guilty Friday to unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition the day Officer Lou Golson was shot in January 2015. They say Cook could face up to a 10-year federal prison term when he's sentenced unless the court determines he's an armed career criminal. In that case, Cook would face an enhanced sentence of between 15 years to life in prison. Cook was first sentenced in July 2015. Golson was conducting a suspected drunken driving traffic stop when he was wounded on Jan. 3, 2015. The shooting was captured on his lapel camera.
