ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A Mesita man is facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman in New Mexico two months ago.
Prosecutors say 28-year-old Brian Dyea entered his plea Monday.
He was arrested on a criminal complaint alleging that he assaulted a Laguna Pueblo woman by choking and biting her on Jan. 12.
Authorities say the woman lost consciousness as a result of the assault. She suffered contusions to her forehead and foot, three bite marks to her left hand and forearm and a sprained wrist.
Dyea has been in federal custody since his arrest and remains detained pending his sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
