New Mexico Set To Release PARCC Student Test Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico education officials are set to release results from the latest student standardized tests. The New Mexico Public Education Department is scheduled Thursday afternoon to unveil the latest results that will help determine school grades. The test results come a year after only around a quarter of New Mexico students in grade 3 to 8 met proficiency or better benchmarks for reading and writing. This is the second time students in New Mexico and 10 other states had taken the assessments developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC. The tests are designed to show how well schools helped students meet Common Core standards — a move that last year generated vocal opposition from some students, teachers, and parents.
