New Mexico's July Unemployment Rate At 6.4 Percent

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 6.4 percent in July. That's up from 6.2 percent in June and down from 6.6 percent a year ago. The state Department of Workforce Solutions reports that the state's economy added 9,600 jobs compared to the previous year. Bernalillo County is the state's most populous county. Its July unemployment rate was 6.2 percent, up from 6.1 percent in June. The two counties with the highest employment rates in July were Luna County at 10.9 percent and McKinley County at 10.5 percent. The counties with the month's lowest employment rates in July were Union at 4.5 percent and De Baca and Curry counties, both at 5.4 percent.
