Police: Man had 2 DWI convictions before fatal crash

ALBQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police say the driver of a motorcycle involved in a fatal crash on Friday was likely impaired and had drunken-driving convictions. Police say 26-year-old Marcus Gomez was driving under the influence when he crashed his motorcycle on Paseo del Norte near Coors Boulevard. His passenger, Lizeth Gutierrez-Martinez, was killed in the crash. An Albuquerque police officer who interviewed Gomez at the hospital said he showed signs of impairment. The officer noted that Gomez had a suspended license and two prior DWI convictions. Gomez faces one count of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer.
