Red Cross Worker Slain In Afghanistan: 'All She Wanted To Do Was Help'

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque woman has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking. Prosecutors say 53-year-old Sandra Cook was sentenced after being convicted by a jury following a three-day trial in May. Cook was arrested in February 2016 on an indictment charging her with possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Bernalillo County Sheriff's officials say deputies seized multiple bundles of methamphetamine weighing about three kilograms and more than $22,000 in cash when they executed a search warrant at Cook's residence in June 2015. Cook then became a fugitive and federal authorities used a court-authorized GPS tracker and cellphone data to locate her at an Albuquerque residence. Sheriff's officials executed a search warrant and found Cook with a tool bag that contained more than 441 grams of pure methamphetamine.
