Son accused of beating mother during Mother's Day visit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police say a 25-year-old man left his mother's home in handcuffs after going to visit her for Mother's Day. Police responding to a call Saturday say they found the woman beaten and bloody and Mariano Pokagon with blood on his hands. According to police, Pokagon told officers he was visiting his mother for Mother's Day. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery against a household member causing great bodily harm. Court records don't list an attorney for Pokagon who could comment on the allegations, and no telephone is listed under Pokagon's name. Police say the mother objected to the arrest of her son, was placed in handcuffs but not taken into custody. Pokagon was arrested on aggravated battery charges, but has since bonded out of jail.
