State Police: Man Killed When Vehicle Slides, Overturns

RUIDOSO, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico State Police say a man was killed when a vehicle that had been stuck on a snowpacked and icy road slid and overturned onto him.

Police say 73-year-old Dan Lewis of Atersia was a passenger in the vehicle that got stuck Sunday on a road near Ruidoso in south-central New Mexico.

According to police, Lewis and the driver got out to put rocks under the vehicle's tires but it then slid off the roadway and overturned onto Lewis.

He died at a Lincoln County Medical Center in Ruidoso.
