Terance Mathis to be honored by alma mater New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The University of New Mexico will honor one of its best and most productive wide receivers this fall by enshrining him in UNM Football's Ring of Honor. The university says Terance Mathis' name will go on permanent display inside the football stadium on Sept. 9 during halftime when New Mexico plays rival New Mexico State. Mathis will join Mike Williams, Bobby Santiago, Don Perkins and Brian Urlacher in the Ring of Honor. Mathis played at UNM in the late 1980s and established several school records that still stand. He was then drafted by the New York Jets and spent four years with the team before heading to Atlanta and then Pittsburgh. He was named All-Pro in 1994. Mathis is currently the head coach at Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, Georgia.
