Weather Delays Departure of Trucks Carrying Transformers

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities report difficult driving conditions on many highways in northern and western New Mexico, and state transportation officials are postponing the beginning of a highway movement of a heavy freight shipment due to weather conditions.

The National Weather Service says a cold Pacific storm that is dropping snow is moving across western New Mexico and expected to cross northern and central parts of the state Monday evening and overnight.

The Department of Transportation says a scheduled Monday departure of trucks carrying heavy loads of transformers from Thoreau has been rescheduled to Tuesday.

The transformers are headed for a Farmington-area power plant.
