2 Dehydrated Hikers Rescued From Sierra Blanca Mountains

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico State Police say two hikers have been rescued after becoming dehydrated near the Three Rivers area of the Sierra Blanca Mountains. They say Carlos Samora from Carrizozo, New Mexico, and Blake Wilson from Dallas, Texas, had to stop their hike about 10 a.m. Thursday. Samora decided to hike out and bring water back to Wilson. But when he returned, Wilson was not where he was left. Samora called for help and a search and rescue mission began. A State Police helicopter located Wilson about 6:30 p.m. on the Mescalero Apache Reservation. Authorities say Wilson had become severely dehydrated and was transported by helicopter to waiting medical personnel.
