Albuquerque man accused in crime spree to stay on probation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man accused in a 2015 crime spree that led to the death of a bartender will remain on supervised probation until he turns 21. The Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/2gNXPRV) reported Thursday that a judge found 19-year-old Ryan Archibeque was amenable to treatment and should be sentenced as a juvenile. That means he can only remain under the court's jurisdiction until his 21st birthday. Prosecutors say Archibeque was one six teenagers who were breaking into cars and homes in June 2015 when 60-year-old Steven Gerecke was fatally shot in his driveway after coming out to confront the group. Archibeque pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, credit card theft, unauthorized use of a credit card and conspiracy.
