Espanola woman killed, husband critically injured in crash

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have identified an Espanola woman who was killed in a car crash in Santa Fe that also left her husband hospitalized with critical injuries. Santa Fe County Sheriff's officials say 71-year-old Lucy Fresques died in a hospital from injuries suffered in last Friday's crash on U.S. 84/285 near the Buffalo Thunder Resort. They say 74-year-old Robert Fresques remains at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Sheriff's investigators say a car driven by an 18-year-old man reportedly was speeding and crossed the highway median before colliding head-on with the SUV that Lucy Fresques was driving. The man and his juvenile passenger were ejected from their vehicle and remain hospitalized. Sheriff's officials say the crash remains under investigation.
