Jury deliberates charges in trial of slain Air Force major

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A jury began deliberations Tuesday morning after five days of testimony into whether or not a New Mexico woman fatally shot her husband after a party at the couple's home. The judge told the jury to decide one of three outcomes: guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of voluntary manslaughter or not guilty by self-defense. Amy Herrera is accused of fatally shooting her husband Marc Herrera, an Air Force major, after the two hosted a party for Ecuadorian exchange students in June 2012. Prosecutors say the two disappeared into their room after Marc Herrera pulled a gun on one of the students and Amy Herrera intervened. Minutes later, he was lying dead in the master bedroom closet. Prosecutors argued that Amy Herrera shot him and wasn't acting in self-defense. They reminded jurors how many times her story had changed.
